The Blackhorse Village Players, lovingly referred to as BVP began in 1971. A group of Tottenham residents began staging performances at the local legion for the community members. In 1981 BVP was able to purchase its current residence at the corner of Hwy 9 & Mount Wolfe Road with the help of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Now with a permanent place to call home, the productions could become more intricate. In 1997 Blackhorse won the Theatre Ontario Award for their presentation of Rabbit Hole, a production written by one of the members.
